To manage the increased congestion in Malé’s market area during the holy month of Ramadan, the police have planned a special operation to regulate traffic flow and ensure road safety. Authorities anticipate that the modernization of Boduthakurufaanu Magu in the market district will provide a significant solution to traffic congestion this year.
With the opening of this newly developed four-lane road, logistical arrangements will ensure that loading and unloading activities do not disrupt the general flow of traffic. This is expected to considerably reduce the pressure in the Fish Market area. Efforts are currently focused on completing the asphalt paving of the road to ensure it is ready for use by the beginning of Ramadan.
