The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has officially announced that Eid al-Fitr for the year 1447 AH will fall on Friday, the 20th of this month. This decision follows the reports that the new moon of Shawwal was not sighted in the Maldives or any other Islamic nation. Although arrangements were in place for judicial testimony regarding the moon sighting, current procedures rely predominantly on verified astronomical calculations for such determinations.
