President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the current administration’s commitment to women’s development is evident through tangible results. Speaking at a ceremony held in Addu City, the President highlighted that the government has introduced necessary legislative reforms to empower Women’s Development Committees (WDCs). This includes facilitating the Ramadan allowance for committee members for the first time. Furthermore, the position of WDC President has been transitioned to a full-time role, and the budgetary allocation for these committees from council budgets has been increased from five percent to ten percent. The President also emphasized that economic empowerment of women, through the provision of specialized loans and the implementation of various development policies, remains a core objective of his administration.
