The Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Abdulla Rafiu, has stated that the National Futsal Team’s victory in the SAFF Futsal Championship is a historic achievement that will revitalize the sporting spirit in the Maldives and benefit other sporting disciplines as well. Highlighting the team’s undefeated run to the title, the Minister noted that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is prioritizing efforts to resolve the challenges faced by futsal players, specifically the lack of a dedicated indoor court. In this regard, discussions and planning are currently underway in collaboration with the FAM to establish an indoor facility. The national team, which secured the championship by defeating Bhutan, is scheduled to return to the Maldives on the 27th of this month.
