Hussein Fahmy, Managing Director of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), has stated that the secret behind STELCO’s success today is the achievement gained through President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s foresight and the strength of his leadership.
STELCO has successfully completed the work of connecting the 132 kilovolt high-voltage substation established in the second phase of Hulhumalé to the Greater Malé Interconnection Grid. In a tweet regarding this, Fahmy said that this work was completed with minimal power interruptions and expressed gratitude for the work of STELCO’s engineers and employees in achieving this success.
“I sincerely commend the notable courage and professionalism shown by our engineers and employees in achieving this success. I express my sincere gratitude for the patience and cooperation of the employees,” Fahmy said.
According to Fahmy, such a great success was achieved by STELCO today due to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s foresight and his leadership. Therefore, Fahmy has extended a special thanks to President Muizzu.
Ibrahim Nashid, General Manager of Transmission and Distribution, said that it was initially estimated that power would need to be cut off from 10 areas in Malé to carry out this work. However, with favorable weather conditions, the work was completed by cutting off power for less than an hour in only two areas of Malé, he said. With the completion of this work, the electricity service in the second phase of Hulhumalé will be further strengthened and more reliable. STELCO has also stated that the electricity network of the entire Greater Malé area will be further strengthened.
