Statistics from the Ministry of Tourism show that the number of tourists who have visited the Maldives so far this year has exceeded three hundred thousand. According to the statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, as of February 15, 2023, 266,482 tourists have visited the Maldives. During the same period last year, 309,411 tourists visited. According to the tourism statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 334,698 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year.
China has been the top source market for tourists to the Maldives so far this year. Russia currently holds the second position on the list. Italy ranks third as the country from which the most tourists visited. According to the ministry’s statistics, 69.4 percent of tourists visiting the Maldives stay at resorts. While 25.5 percent stay at guesthouses, 2.7 percent stay at hotels.
A total of 172 resorts are open to tourists in the Maldives, while 796 guesthouses are in operation. There are also 155 safari vessels providing services to tourists. The government has previously made extensive efforts to bring tourists to the Maldives, and various records have been achieved in the tourism sector. This year, the government aims to bring 2.3 million tourists to the Maldives.
