The recently concluded General Assembly of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) was one of the most important tasks set for the Normalization Committee, according to committee member Ismail Simon. In an interview with the state media PSM News after FAM’s Annual General Meeting, Simon stated that the completed work was one of the most crucial tasks planned by the Normalization Committee. He added that this task, which involved amending the statutes and paving the way for new elections, was among the most significant responsibilities assigned to the Normalization Committee by FIFA.

“I believe that what concluded today was indeed one of the most important tasks planned as part of the Normalization Committee’s work. Among the responsibilities entrusted to us by FIFA for normalization, amending the statutes and paving the way for new elections was considered the most crucial discussion,” Simon said. He added that the FAM Congress concluded very successfully. Simon also mentioned that while drafting the statutes, the Normalization Committee prioritized considering comments from all relevant parties and formulating the statutes in accordance with everyone’s opinions.

The Congress, held at Henveiru Meeru Maa, was attended by the Normalization Committee Chairman Ahmed Muizzu and other committee members. Officials from the world football governing body (FIFA) and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) also participated in this Congress. This included Ahmed Harraz, the Senior Manager of FIFA Member Associations.
