The Maldives Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has officially launched a specialized application named “Mas Kiraa” to further enhance efficiency and convenience for fishermen. The application was inaugurated by the Minister of Health, Mr. Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, at a special ceremony held to commemorate the 45th Fishermen’s Day.

MIFCO stated that the “Mas Kiraa” application is meticulously designed to provide fishermen with an automatically generated queue number when they arrive to weigh their catch, thereby eliminating the need for third-party involvement. This application also incorporates numerous other features aimed at simplifying the process. Developed in collaboration with MIFCO and based on a concept by Ms. Shafga Shafeeq, President of “Keyolhaa Maldives,” the app was designed following extensive consultation and feedback from a wide range of fishermen to ensure it meets their practical needs.

MIFCO emphasized that this application will bring significant benefits to fishermen. Through “Mas Kiraa,” fishermen will have the opportunity to register their vessels conveniently. Furthermore, beyond just weighing fish, the application provides access to additional essential services such as requesting fuel, water, and ice. Once these service requests are processed, the system will generate a token for fish weighing. Fishermen can then instantly view their queue number after the token has been generated, allowing for efficient planning.

The application also enables fishermen to access historical data and statistics regarding their past fish weighing activities. This feature empowers fishermen to effortlessly monitor their fishing history and performance. The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources remarked that introducing such a modern solution will substantially ease the work of fishermen, save valuable time, and effectively put an end to the prolonged waiting times often experienced in queues.
