Minister of Cities, Local Government Authority, and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, has stated that Maldivians set an example when neighboring countries are in need of assistance. The Minister made this remark in a speech after the Ministry of Cities donated funds to a telethon for Sri Lanka. The Minister highlighted the beautiful trait of helpfulness inherent in Maldivians, noting that this characteristic is still evident among them today.
“When such a situation confronts a neighboring country, the beautiful qualities of brotherhood and compassion, which have always been evident among Maldivians, are still seen from them,” the Minister stated. The Minister also extended his gratitude to PSM (Public Service Media) for organizing such an event.

“I thank PSM for carrying out such an initiative during these important situations,” the Minister said. PSM launched the telethon to assist the people of Sri Lanka at 9 AM this morning. Initially, the telethon was scheduled to continue until 1 AM tonight. However, it has now been decided to extend this telethon non-stop until 2 PM tomorrow.
