Farrukh Zakirov, the Uzbekistani tactical mastermind who guided the Maldives National Futsal Team to its historic first-ever regional championship under foreign leadership, has returned to his home country following the conclusion of his short-term contract.
Since taking the helm in December, Zakirov maintained a flawless record, leading the national side to victory in every single match of the SAFF Futsal Championship. His tenure was defined by a revolutionary transformation in the team’s tactical approach and overall performance.
A former Uzbekistan international who previously achieved significant success coaching his nation’s women’s futsal team, Zakirov’s departure was marked by formal appreciation from the Football Association of Maldives (FAM). The association expressed its profound gratitude for his invaluable contributions and the remarkable achievements attained during his period of service.
