
The Telemedicine Pilot Project has been inaugurated at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital. The service was launched by the First Lady launched by the First Lady Fazna Ahmed during the official ceremony marking the 43rd anniversary of the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital. Although health services have been provided in Kulhudhuffushi since the late 1960s, basic services were officially established in 1982. Over the past 43 years, the hospital has achieved significant milestones. During the anniversary ceremony, three important services were inaugurated at the hospital, including the Telemedicine Pilot Project.
The service was inaugurated by First Lady Fazna Ahmed. The telemedicine service at Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital will be provided in collaboration with IGMH and F. Atoll Hospital. Services not available in F. Atoll will be provided by Kulhudhuffushi Hospital, and services not available at Kulhudhuffushi Hospital will be provided through IGMH. This will also enable conveniences such as viewing test results online. Speaking at the ceremony, Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital’s CEO Nazima Ali stated that they are working to further strengthen the services provided by the hospital.
“Looking at the hospital statistics, the most frequent referrals to Male’ are for heart diseases and stroke cases. Therefore, we hope that with telemedicine, the hospital will see improvements in this area,” said the CEO. In addition to telemedicine, Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital has also inaugurated a special clinic for non-communicable diseases and endometriosis services. With this, the hospital says that a healthy community can be built by preventing non-communicable diseases early. They also state that as endometriosis is recognized as a painful condition among women, the expansion of this treatment will facilitate easier access to services for those suffering from such pain.

At this ceremony, individuals who have contributed to the development of the hospital in various ways and those who have served for long periods were honored with commemorative plaques. Additionally, a minute of silence was observed in memory of two long-serving individuals, the late Hassan Ahmed and the late Mohamed Hassan. The hospital also presented commemorative plaques to recognize its best employees.
