The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) has appointed Tamoohu Ahmed Saeed as the Secretary General for the upcoming term. Additionally, Ahmed Azoor has been reappointed as the Financial Director for another term. These two individuals were appointed to their positions at the first official meeting of the newly elected MOC Executive Committee. At the meeting held last night, the board unanimously decided to reappoint Tamoohu and Azoor for the upcoming term as Secretary General and Financial Director, respectively.
The MOC stated that these appointments were made after considering the board’s confidence in their leadership and the work both individuals have done in the past to advance the objectives of the MOC. The MOC said that in the upcoming term, they will continue their efforts to promote sports and advance Olympic principles in the Maldives. In the MOC election held on June 2nd for the 2025-2029 term, the new Executive Committee was elected with Mohamed Abdus Sattar (Champy), President of the Swimming Association, as President, and Ahmed Munthagim (Munthe) of the Chess Association and Ahmed Ismail of Handball Maldives as Vice Presidents.
While this Executive Committee has once again appointed Tamoohu as Secretary General, he was first appointed to this position on July 12, 2021. Even before his appointment to this role, Tamoohu had been working with the MOC. Tamoohu has played a key role in organizing Maldivian delegations for international sporting events.
Previously serving as the General Secretary of the Table Tennis Association of Maldives (TTAM), Tamoohu has also provided valuable services to the MOC during the past term.
