The Maldives has achieved a significant milestone in reproductive healthcare with the successful birth of the first two infants conceived through In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) at the country’s inaugural National Fertility Centre. Marking one year since the establishment of the center at Dharumavantha Hospital, the facility has provided treatment to 578 couples under the Aasandha scheme. To date, 23 successful pregnancies have been recorded through the center’s services. The government aims to expand these fertility services across the nation, ensuring accessible care for families facing reproductive challenges. The President and the First Lady graced the special ceremony held to commemorate this historic achievement.
