Sri Lankan President arrives in Maldives for inaugural visit, warm welcome at airport

Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has arrived in the Maldives for his inaugural visit, following an invitation from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The Sri Lankan President received a warm welcome at Velana International Airport. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu personally greeted the Sri Lankan President at the airport.

This visit by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake is his first state visit to the Maldives since assuming office. The visit is scheduled from the 28th to the 30th of this month.

During the Sri Lankan President’s visit, official meetings and discussions with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu are planned. Additionally, talks are scheduled to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various sectors, with plans to formulate agreements.

The Sri Lankan President’s visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Diplomatic relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka were established on July 26, 1965.
