Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has stated that Zionist Israel and Russia should be banned from participating in international sports competitions. Referring to the aggressive attacks by Zionists on Gaza in Palestine and Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, Sánchez said that the two countries should not be given the opportunity to participate in sports competitions until their violent actions come to an end. Sánchez made these remarks after protests in support of Palestinian rights in Madrid, Spain, turned heated and disrupted the final stage of the La Vuelta cycling race in the area. The final stage of the race was canceled due to the protests, and the podium ceremony for awarding prizes was not held.
Sánchez is known for speaking out against the Zionists in relation to the Gaza aggression. He has described the Gaza aggression as attacks by Zionists aimed at genocide. Last May, Spain recognized Palestine as an independent state under Sánchez’s leadership. Spain has also decided this month not to provide any oil or weapons to the Zionists in connection with the Gaza aggression. Early in the Ukraine-Russia war, Spain announced that Russia would not be allowed to participate in sports competitions held in the country. Spain also appealed to its teams not to participate in competitions held in Russia.
In the Ukraine-Russia war, which began on February 24, 2022, more than 77,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died so far. Statistics also show that more than 13,000 civilians have been killed. In the aggressive attacks by Zionists on Gaza’s population for genocide, which began on October 7, 2023, more than 64,000 people have been martyred so far. The Zionists continue to obstruct the entry of aid supplies into Gaza, starving the population of the city. More than 400 people have been martyred in Gaza due to hunger and malnutrition.
