Saudi Arabia is providing pilgrims performing Hajj this year with smart watches using the latest technology to closely monitor the condition of pilgrims with the poorest health status among those performing the Hajj rituals. While pilgrims are performing the Hajj rituals, health-related information will be collected using the smart watch and that information will be shared in real-time with relevant authorities. This smart watch provided by the Makkah Health Cluster is being used this year under a policy established to manage health-related matters during Hajj in 2025 using the latest technology.
The use of this watch allows healthcare providers to closely monitor the condition of pilgrims without interfering with their worship. Through the smart watch, the pilgrims’ heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation level, and body temperature will always be monitored. And that information will be shared with relevant authorities. The period during which this year’s Hajj rituals are being performed will be the last year in recent history that Hajj rituals are performed in the hot season. For the next 16 years, the month of Hajj will coincide with spring and winter seasons.”
