Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the designation of its digital wallet, “Skye,” as the official wallet of Visit Maldives. This strategic partnership was formalized during a signing ceremony held at the BML Head Office. The agreement aims to leverage cutting-edge technology to enhance the overall experience for tourists visiting the Maldives. The agreement was signed by Mohamed Shareef, CEO and Managing Director of BML, and Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives.

Skye is a 100% Maldivian-developed product, designed and built locally. The digital wallet has been developed in full compliance with both national and international financial standards and regulations. Through the Skye wallet, users can perform both local and international transactions. In addition to BML accounts, the wallet can be topped up using any credit, debit, or prepaid card. Following its limited release in January, users have been invited to experience the wallet’s core features, which include person-to-person transfers, QR payments, and automated tracking of account expenses. Customers also have access to services such as sharing payment links, easy top-ups, and fund withdrawals.

This agreement is a key component of the strategic partnership established between Bank of Maldives and Visit Maldives last year. According to BML, the primary objectives of this partnership are to accelerate digital advancements within the tourism sector, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen the Maldives’ reputation as a premier destination in the global tourism market.
