Singapore Airlines to Velana International Airport (VIA)’s New Terminal

Velana International Airport (VIA)’s Terminal 1 currently provides services to 32 airlines, with the national carrier of Singapore, Singapore Airlines, being the most recent addition. Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) announced that a special ceremony was held to commemorate the commencement of Singapore Airlines’ services. The event was honored by the presence of Dhiraagu’s CEO and Managing Director, Ismail Rasheed. Also in attendance were MACL’s CEO, Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, and Singapore Airlines’ General Manager, Haaziq Sulaiman.

Following the official opening of Singapore Airlines’ counters, 205 departing passengers were presented with gifts. Furthermore, 244 passengers arriving on the airline’s inaugural flight to the terminal received a warm welcome, complete with engaging cultural activities. This occasion marked the first time an Airbus 350 flight was welcomed at Terminal 1. Singapore Airlines initially commenced its operations to the Maldives on March 28, 1984. MACL is committed to providing the most comprehensive and highest-quality services to all airlines operating flights to the Maldives. According to a report released by the Ministry of Tourism on the 11th of this month, a total of 35 airlines are currently operating services to the Maldives.
