Regarding the constitutional amendment to hold presidential and parliamentary elections concurrently, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu stated that this change would minimize the scope for political influence and ensure a fair environment with maximum voter participation. The President highlighted that synchronizing these two elections would eliminate the opportunity for the administration to exert undue influence to secure parliamentary seats, emphasizing that this is a crucial decision made for national stability and the best interests of the citizens. A public referendum on this matter is scheduled to be held in conjunction with the local council elections next April.
