
According to the latest statistics from the Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA), revenue collected from Departure Tax and Airport Development Fee (ADF) in January experienced a substantial increase of 58.6% compared to the same period last year.
The state recorded a total of MVR 368 million from these sources, comprising MVR 180 million in Departure Tax and MVR 188 million in Airport Development Fees. A detailed breakdown of the figures reveals that Departure Tax revenue rose by 56.5%, while Airport Development Fee revenue saw a significant growth of 60.6%.
These fees are levied on passengers departing from the Maldives. However, exemptions remain in place for individuals with diplomatic immunity, transit passengers, and children under the age of two.
