The President of the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC), Mohamed Abdul Sattar (Champy), has stated that significant and successful efforts are being undertaken to enhance the governance and administrative efficiency of sports associations operating in the Maldives.

Speaking on PSM News’ “Raajje Miadhu” program, Sattar highlighted that the current administration’s vision for sports focuses on human resource development and providing essential training to strengthen the management of sports and their respective associations. He noted that substantial progress is being made in this direction.

Sattar further emphasized the close and robust professional relationship that now exists between the Ministry of Sports and the MOC, noting that both entities are working with a unified resolve to achieve common goals. He pointed out that improving the management of sports associations is a vital component of elevating Maldivian sports to a higher standard, a goal shared by the MOC, the Sports Ministry, and all sports associations.

“We have been actively working towards this. Several courses have already been conducted, including training programs abroad for management personnel. For instance, we are conducting workshops specifically focused on budget management and the administrative protocols that associations must follow,” Sattar explained.

Sattar expressed his confidence in the collaborative efforts between the MOC and the Sports Ministry to fortify the administration of these associations. He cautioned that failing to address governance issues would inevitably have a negative impact on the development of athletes.

In conclusion, Sattar noted that in the coming days, Maldivian sports associations will transform into entities characterized by robust governance systems and capable management. He particularly highlighted that the oversight and management of association budgets would see marked improvement compared to the present.
