A waterspout hit Maradhoo-Feydhoo in Addu this morning, causing significant damage. Khalida Mohamed, the councilor representing Maradhoo-Feydhoo in the Addu City Council, stated that the waterspout occurred about half an hour ago and caused extensive damage. She said that they have begun collecting information about the damage to the island. She added that details would be known later. Based on the information available so far, Khalida said that the waterspout had blown off the roof of the island’s morgue and the roofs of three residential houses. She also mentioned that they have received reports of some compound walls collapsing.
No injuries have been reported in the incident. Khalida said that the damages reported so far have also been communicated to the National Disaster Management Authority.
