
Seven launch operators have expressed interest in using the ferry terminals operated by MTCC in the Male’ area. Under the special directive of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Henveiru and Hulhumale ferry terminals have been arranged to provide relief to citizens who use launch ferry services to travel to islands and currently face difficulties in embarking and disembarking in Male’. MTCC said in a statement that they are preparing to arrange for these terminals to be used by parties providing launch ferry services between Male’ and the atolls, and to offer this opportunity.
MTCC has stated that seven parties providing launch ferry services have expressed interest in the opportunity to use the Henveiru and Hulhumale ferry terminals. This includes operators serving ADh. Atoll’s Fenfushi, Maamigili, and Didi, K. Atoll’s Maafushi, Guraidhoo, Gulhi, Gaafaru and Kaashidhoo, and B. Atoll’s Thulhaadhoo, Hithaadhoo, Goidhoo, Fehendhoo and Fulhadhoo.
MTCC estimates that with the parties who have currently expressed interest, once this service begins, a total of 15 launch ferries per day, carrying approximately 2000 passengers, can be served from their terminals. Looking at how the service is planned, the Henveiru terminal will have space for 5 launches to dock simultaneously, while the Hulhumale ferry terminal will have space for 3 launches. Each vessel will have 30 minutes from docking to departure. They also said that a special area will be arranged inside the terminal for passengers to wait between arrival and departure, and facilities such as restrooms and drinking water will be available for passengers’ convenience.
Additionally, they have stated that the company will always strive to improve the quality of service based on feedback and consultation from terminal users and the general public.
