The Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Mohamed Saeed, has emphasized that the active involvement and consultation of entrepreneurs are crucial for achieving sustainable economic growth. Speaking at the ceremony marking the 6th anniversary of “Authentic Maldives,” the Minister stated that consistent engagement with the business community will be maintained, alongside government initiatives designed to provide relief and support for small enterprises.
“Authentic Maldives,” a platform dedicated to showcasing and promoting local craftsmanship, has achieved significant milestones. Currently, 407 businesses are registered under this brand, which has also successfully facilitated opportunities for local products to be sold on international platforms such as Alibaba. Furthermore, the decision to disburse a portion of payments to suppliers in US Dollars has provided substantial financial ease to businesses. Looking ahead, the government aims to further expand the brand’s footprint both locally and internationally in the coming years.
