MMPRC is carrying out numerous activities to promote the Maldives at the market being held from 28th of this month to 1st May at the Dubai World Trade Center. The agreements were signed on behalf of MMPRC by Managing Director Ibrahim Shiuree. The Minister of Tourism and Environment, Tariq Ibrahim, participated in the signing ceremonies of these agreements. The first agreement signed by the Maldives was with Emirates Airlines. Under this agreement, Emirates will work to promote the Maldives in the regions where Emirates operates. In addition, they will work together to promote Maldivian businesses.

The Maldives then signed an agreement with Qatar Airways. Under the agreement signed with Qatar Airways, Qatar Airways will also promote Maldives tourism in various regions. Qatar Airways also says that they will work to increase the number of tourists coming to the Maldives.

Spain and Portugal resume electricity service after outage

Spain and Portugal have resumed electricity service after a widespread power outage that lasted for several hours. On April 28, a sudden power outage in Spain and Portugal disrupted transportation systems in both countries. Metro and rail services were suspended. Traffic lights stopped working, leading to increased congestion and road closures. Airports in Lisbon, Porto, and Faro in Portugal were operating on emergency generators. Many flights experienced delays in landing and takeoff. Phone and internet services were also affected.

Additionally, hospitals in both countries were performing critical surgeries for severely ill patients using backup generators for power supply. Many people were trapped in elevators and metro systems due to the sudden power outage. Both countries were plunged into darkness, with millions of people spending the entire night in blackout conditions. However, electricity service has now been restored to 99% of the affected areas in Portugal and Spain. Despite the power restoration, many people are still stranded at metro and rail stations as metro services have not fully resumed.

The cause of the power outage has not been officially disclosed by any agency. Some authorities have speculated that it could be due to a natural occurrence caused by a sudden change in temperature. There have also been discussions about the possibility of a cyber attack. However, experts say that the outage was not caused by a cyber attack or weather-related issues.

Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro stated that the power outage originated in Spain. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that all possible causes of the outage are being investigated. He urged the public not to jump to conclusions, warning that doing so could lead to the spread of misinformation. Sanchez mentioned that 15 gigawatts of power, equivalent to 60% of Spain’s electricity consumption, was lost within a matter of seconds during the incident.

Red Electrica, which operates Spain’s power grid, described the incident that led to the widespread outage as unusual. A director of the company said that the outage was caused by a problem with Spain’s power grid in France. However, the exact nature of the problem remains unclear. This is the second time in recent months that a major power system in the country has failed. In March, London’s Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, had to be shut down due to a power outage, disrupting air travel worldwide.

This latest incident has raised questions about the reliability of power grids that rely on renewable energy sources. Spain heavily depends on solar and wind energy.

India closes many tourist destinations in Kashmir to the public

Following an incident where armed individuals shot and killed numerous tourists in India’s Kashmir, more than half of Kashmir’s tourist destinations have been closed to the public as a measure to strengthen security. The Indian government has closed 48 out of 87 tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir to the public. However, the duration of these closures is unknown.

On the 22nd of this month, armed individuals entered an area where tourists were staying in India’s Kashmir, opened fire, and killed 26 people. As India conducts a strong military operation to find the threed the three attackers, they have accused two of them of being Pakistani nationals. However, Pakistan’s government has denied allegations of their involvement in this attack and called for an independent investigation by a third party.

In connection with this incident, the long-standing tension between the two countries has further intensified, with soldiers from both countries exchanging light weapon fire for the fifth consecutive night near the border area. As a result of this attack, relations between the two countries have deteriorated, and India has suspended its implementation of an important agreement to share water with Pakistan. In response, Pakistan has banned Indian Airlines flights from entering Pakistani airspace.

Furthermore, both countries have now downgraded diplomatic relations and temporarily suspended issuing visas to each other’s citizens.

He says he is working towards progressing on his own, according to Barcelona’s young forward Lamine Yamal. Before tonight’s match against Inter Milan in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final, Yamal said that he does not want to be compared to Messi. “I never compare myself to Messi, especially not to Messi. Messi is the best player in football history,” said 19-year-old Lamine Yamal.

“I don’t believe in comparing myself to any player to see if I’m on the same level. I’m focused on progressing on my own,” Lamine further added. At a young age, Lamine Yamal has already won the European Championship with Spain. And tonight’s match against Inter Milan will be his 100th appearance for Barcelona. While Barcelona has the opportunity to win three trophies this season, the team has already won the Copa del Rey championship this week after defeating rival Real Madrid 3-2.

Although a large part of Spain experienced power outages on Monday and Tuesday, UEFA has stated that the match will proceed as scheduled. Both teams have held their final training sessions before the match, and the press conference has also taken place.

PSG defeats Arsenal

In the first leg of the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League, Europe’s most prestigious club football tournament, PSG has won against Arsenal with a score of 1-0 last night.

In the match played at the Emirates Stadium in London last night, PSG scored a goal in the fourth minute to take the lead. The goal for PSG was scored by Ousmane Dembélé from a pass by Kvicha Kvaratskhelia. This is Dembélé’s eighth goal in the Champions League this season. PSG played excellently in the first half of the match, sending many dangerous attacks towards Arsenal’s goal. In one such instance, a dangerous attack by the team’s young player Disasi Doye was saved by Arsenal’s keeper David Raya.

PSG’s goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has played an important role in bringing PSG to the semi-finals of this tournament, has defended many attacks from Arsenal in this match. Notably, he saved attacks from Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. Donnarumma had also played well in PSG’s matches against Liverpool and Aston Villa. In this match, when Arsenal got a free kick, Declan Rice took it, and Mikel Merino headed it towards the goal, but the referee ruled it as an offside goal.

In the second half of the match, although PSG had good opportunities to extend their lead, substitute player Bradley Barcola’s dangerous attack went just wide of the post, while Gonçalo Ramos’s attack hit the post and went out. As PSG works towards winning the Champions League for the first time, the second encounter between these two teams will be held next week at PSG’s home ground in Paris, France.

Europe’s strongest defense line is at Inter Milan: Flick

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has said that Europe’s strongest defense line is at Inter Milan. He said this while speaking before the UEFA Champions League semi-final match. “The team with the strongest defense line in Europe is Barcelona. We have thoroughly analyzed the opposing team. It won’t be easy to defeat them. They are a very strong team,” Flick said. As Inter enters this match, they have lost their last three matches. With this, the team that was at the top of the table to defend the Italian league has now fallen to second place. This is not how Inter has fared in the past 10 years.

However, Barcelona’s coach said that the Champions League is a different competition. “Even though their results in the league have been poor, the Champions League is a completely different competition. We need to be cautious about them,” the coach said. Flick said that defeating their most competitive rival Real Madrid last Wednesday night and winning the Copa del Rey is a great confidence boost for the team before this match. However, the coach said that the decision on whether two key players who couldn’t play in that match due to injury, forward Robert Lewandowski and defender Alejandro Balde, will play in this match will be made at the last moment.

“We will rotate the team. But whether we do it in this match or in the Spanish league is too early to decide. I’m working to select the best team. The Champions League is a very important competition for us,” the coach said. Tonight’s match will start at 12:00 Maldives time.”

Coach: Inter Milan won’t fear Barcelona despite poor form

Despite Inter Milan’s form having significantly declined ahead of tonight’s first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final against Barcelona, their coach remains defiant. The Italian champions have not won any of their last three matches and have lost their top spot in the Italian league. As a result, Italian media are saying this is a major problem facing coach Simone Inzaghi. The biggest issue the coach needs to decide before tonight’s match is whether to start forward Marcus Thuram in the first 11. The forward, who has missed the last three matches due to muscle pain, is not fully fit. However, the medical team has said he may be able to play.

If Thuram doesn’t start, the coach doesn’t have a trusted player to support captain Lautaro Martinez in the forward line. Mehdi Taremi didn’t perform adequately when given the chance. Additionally, Giuseppe Mezza hasn’t done enough to earn a spot in the starting 11. Joaquin Correa is not listed in the Champions League squad. For these reasons, Italian media say there’s a high chance Davide Frattesi will be played in the starting eleven.

Inter’s coach Inzaghi said losing three consecutive matches just before the Champions League semi-final is very disappointing. “We are very disappointed with these three losses. This is not how we’ve performed before. We need to recover both mentally and physically from this. We will go to Barcelona without fear. With respect, we will play to win,” the coach said. He also stated that Barcelona is currently the best team in Europe. Inter last lifted the Champions League trophy in 2010 after defeating Barcelona in the semi-final and then beating Bayern Munich in the final.
