Under the government’s pay harmonization policy, salary increments for employees of the Maldives Customs Service and the Maldives Correctional Service have been implemented effective March 1, 2024. This adjustment, integrated into this year’s national budget, is part of a phased initiative to standardize pay scales across various sectors. Following the harmonization of salaries within the Civil Service and the Judiciary, the government has announced that other state institutions will also transition to the new framework throughout this year.

The primary objective of this new pay framework is to foster a professional culture that maximizes productivity within standard working hours, thereby reducing excessive reliance on overtime. Additionally, the policy aims to enhance employee compensation and facilitate a healthier work-life balance. The National Pay Framework serves as a robust structure designed to ensure fairness and consistency in salaries and allowances across all state institutions.
