The Ukrainian government has reported that Russia has launched powerful air strikes using drones and missiles on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv today, killing three people so far. These attacks on Ukraine began after Russian President Vladimir Putin told US President Donald Trump that Russia would have to respond to drone attacks launched by Ukraine targeting Russian military bomber aircraft.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Yermak said on X that Russia, claiming retaliation, has attacked civilian areas and buildings in Ukraine. However, the Russian Defense Ministry said that in response to “terrorist” attacks on Russia, Russia has attacked Ukrainian military installations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a total of 49 people were injured in various areas in Russia’s “merciless” attacks.

The Ukrainian Air Force said that Russia used 407 drones and 45 ballistic and cruise missiles in the attacks. Although US President Donald Trump has made many efforts over the past four months to end the Russia-Ukraine war and establish peace between the two countries, the war continues to intensify day by day. In the past week, Ukraine has launched powerful attacks on two Russian bridges and bombed Russian bomber jets in Siberia and northern Russia. In connection with these attacks, Russian President Vladimir Putin has questioned whether Ukraine really wants to stop the war and establish peace. Putin said he believes Ukraine does not want to establish peace.
