Rizan Named Best Cricketer of the Year

Ibrahim Rizan has been crowned the Best Cricketer of the Year 2025, securing the prestigious title with a total of 1,895 points.

The award was presented to Rizan by the President of the Cricket Board of Maldives (CBM), Mohamed Faisal, during the ‘Cricket Haveeru’ awards ceremony. Rizan is recognized as a distinguished athlete who has dedicated many years to the sport and has been a pivotal player for the Maldivian National Team. Currently, he serves as the Secretary General of the CBM.

Since assuming his new administrative role on January 1st of this year, Rizan will no longer be eligible to compete in club-level cricket tournaments. However, the CBM has confirmed that he remains eligible to participate in development team matches and social cricket tournaments.

In addition to his playing career, Rizan has made significant strides in the field of officiating. He successfully completed the International Cricket Council (ICC) Level 1 Umpire Tutor course held in Malaysia. Having started his umpiring career at the young age of 17, Rizan has officiated in various tournament formats.

With his ICC certification, Rizan is now officially authorized to conduct training programs and certify new umpires within the Maldives.
