The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has announced that the Regional Emergency Operation Centers (REOCs) being established across the Maldives will serve as strategic hubs for stockpiling essential supplies and equipment required during disasters. Currently, such centers are under development in Addu City and Laamu Atoll. These facilities are designed to significantly enhance emergency response times within the atolls, ensuring that critical assistance reaches those in need more efficiently.

Furthermore, during non-emergency periods, these centers will be utilized as venues for conducting various training programs. The NDMA has also budgeted for the construction of a center in GDh. Thinadhoo. In addition, the authority plans to provide dewatering pumps to all islands and distribute firefighting equipment to islands in need over the next two years.
