Alonso is a midfielder who has played 158 matches for Real Madrid and scored four goals. He played for Real from 2009 to 2014. The player, who previously played for Real Sociedad and Liverpool, and later for Bayern Munich in Germany, began his coaching career in 2019 with Real Sociedad’s B team. He then shone by coaching Germany’s Bayer Leverkusen for the past two seasons. In this way, he has won the championship for Leverkusen in last year’s season.
Alonso was given Real’s coaching position after not winning a trophy in the season that ended last night. Before Alonso, the coach was Real’s most successful coach, Italy’s Carlo Ancelotti. Alonso’s first tournament as Real’s coach will be the Club World Cup starting next month. Real has already started working on bringing the players he needs to prepare for this tournament.
