Raudha Ahmed Zilal, who was arrested in connection with the incident where a person fell onto the roof of a house in Henveiru, has been released from detention. Raudha was released after he was arrested for the second time and the Criminal Court had set a detention period of 5 days. The Maldives Police Service said that they have submitted the case to the Prosecutor General’s Office to press charges against Raudha. However, they also said that after reviewing the case documents, the Prosecutor General’s Office has instructed to release him from detention.
According to the police, Raudha was released from detention at some point during the night, in accordance with the instructions given by the Prosecutor General’s Office. Raudha Ahmed Zilal was arrested in connection with the case where Yumna was found fallen, as video footage showed that he was with her when she fell. Yumna fell from H. Fantonia. CCTV footage shows Raudha and Yumna together in that house. Yumna, who fell in this incident, was treated at IGMH and has now been taken to Malaysia for further treatment. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has established a special commission to investigate this incident.
