Manchester United’s co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has stated that coach Ruben Amorim will need three years to prove himself as a good coach. Amorim, who took over as Manchester United’s coach last November, will complete one year with the team next month. Since joining Manchester United after achieving many successes with Portugal’s Sporting, he has not been able to produce the desired results. Last season, finishing 15th in the Premier League was the club’s worst result since being relegated in the 1973-74 season.
Despite spending £200 million on many new players during the hot transfer window, the team has not achieved satisfactory results so far this season, having played seven matches. They have lost three Premier League matches and were eliminated from the English League Cup after losing to a second-division team. In an interview with The Times, Ratcliffe said these are difficult times for Amorim, but he needs more time.
“This is not his best season yet. I believe he can prove he’s a good coach within three years,” Ratcliffe said. Many analysts who study Manchester United’s matches have said that Amorim will not be able to achieve adequate results with the club playing the way he is trying to make them play.
