Ramadan 2026: Global Fasting Durations and Trends

With the holy month of Ramadan in 2026 expected to commence around February 18th or 19th, fasting hours across the globe are projected to vary between 11.5 and 15.5 hours. Countries in the Northern Hemisphere will experience shorter fasting periods as the month coincides with the winter season; conversely, those in the Southern Hemisphere will observe longer fasting durations. Due to the Hijri calendar being approximately 11 days shorter than the Gregorian calendar, the start date of Ramadan shifts earlier each year. This cyclical progression will eventually lead to the rare occurrence of two Ramadans within the single calendar year of 2030.
