Fenaka Corporation has announced that electricity has been fully restored to all areas of L. Gan. Mohamed Najaah, the Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, stated that a fire incident at the power station had damaged one engine, leading to a power outage in three specific areas of L. Gan. However, he confirmed that through the collaborative efforts of Fenaka and a technical team from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), power has now been successfully reconnected to all three affected areas. Mr. Najaah also noted that one generator sustained severe damage and is currently unusable.
Fenaka reports that the fire at Gan’s power station originated in one of the facility’s two annexes. According to Fenaka’s assessment, out of the five engines supplying power to Gan, only one engine suffered damage during the incident. Fenaka further confirmed that although the island experienced a disruption in water supply during the power outage, that issue has also been successfully resolved. Additionally, Fenaka stated that the island’s sewerage system was not affected by this incident. The fire at Gan’s power station occurred today around 2:50 PM and was successfully extinguished by approximately 3:50 PM.
