The Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has expressed concern over alleged bias in the information provided by the state media, Public Service Media (PSM), regarding the local council elections. Although the MDP requested a meeting with the Managing Director of PSM to discuss these concerns, the broadcaster stated that its current priority is to provide technical information through experienced experts and that there are no immediate plans to allocate airtime to political parties.
As MDP leadership continues to protest at the PSM premises, the party alleges that the state broadcaster is operating unlawfully as a campaign hub for the ruling party. However, PSM has refuted these allegations, asserting that the company operates independently within the legal framework. Furthermore, PSM has urged individuals to refrain from actions that create fear among its employees. The company also noted that the Managing Director is currently abroad and that a meeting will be facilitated upon his return.
