
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that a project to construct 100 flats in Thulusdhoo will be implemented this year. He said this during a meeting with the people of Thulusdhoo. Meeting with the people of Thulusdhoo in South Maalhosmadulu Atoll, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu highlighted that he had made important promises for the development of the island and emphasized that fulfilling all those promises was his top priority. The President also mentioned that this is something the entire government is focusing on, and various projects are progressing based on the work that can be facilitated at different times.
In his speech, the President noted that road construction in Thulusdhoo has now been assigned to RDC (Road Development Corporation), stating that this work will also begin very soon and be completed successfully. The President said that one of his promises was housing construction, and that there were issues with a project started during the previous administration, resulting in a court ruling. Consequently, neither the government nor the council can do anything about it, the President said. However, the President stated that a new project of 100 flats will be implemented in Thulusdhoo. He also mentioned that the project has now been opened for tendering and some parties have applied.

He said that the point allocation for this project will proceed according to the wishes of the people, as determined by the council and approved by the ministry.
Additionally, the President assured that there are 119 plots of land in Thulusdhoo that some individuals have reclaimed on their own, and since they have applied to privatize these plots, he will ensure that this is done as well. The President has given assurance that he will fulfill the promises made in the health sector, education sector, and sports sector. He also stated that many of these works will begin this year. In this regard, the President said that a gynecologist and a pediatrician will very soon be stationed in Thulusdhoo to provide services.
“Overall, there is budget allocation for next year to recruit staff and acquire resources to develop the health sector,” said the President. Furthermore, noting that the people wish to designate Emboodhoo as a picnic island, the President said that the island has been leased for tourism for 21 years. Therefore, he said that he will designate the island as a picnic island in a way that does not cause loss to the state.
The President has stated that he will fulfill all the promises made for the development of Thulusdhoo and make the people’s hopes a reality.
