President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the stalled projects in F. Feeali will be included among the highest priority works to be carried out next year. The President made this statement during a meeting with the residents of F. Feeali. In the meeting with F. Feeali residents, the most important issue raised by the people was the problem of many ongoing projects in the island being halted. As such, residents have requested to expedite the work initiated by the government to resolve issues such as the suspension of the land reclamation project, accelerating water and sewerage services, and addressing problems in providing health services. Additionally, the council has requested the President to operate the ice plant currently running on the island with council shareholding.
“The island’s water and sewerage issue is very serious and needs an urgent solution. We also want the ice plant operating on the island to be run with council involvement and shareholding. The school is also severely lacking in space and modern facilities,” some residents who spoke at the meeting highlighted. Other issues raised by the residents included installing a fish aggregating device near the island, developing health services on the island, and arranging for thalassemia treatment to be easily accessible on the island.
The President has assured the residents that he will expedite the stalled works on the island. He stated that Feeali’s projects will be given priority and carried forward next year. Furthermore, he mentioned that he would speak to relevant government agencies and companies to accelerate the halted works on the island. “We will expand 15 hectares of this island’s land. We faced difficulties in obtaining rocks and necessary materials. However, that has now been resolved, and works are beginning. We will also complete the newly signed projects within this term,” the President said.
During the President’s trip, he has also initiated many development projects for Feeali. Some projects have also been inaugurated upon completion.
