President Sends National Day Greetings to Singapore

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has sent National Day greetings to the leaders and people of Singapore. The President shared his greetings in a post on social media in connection with Singapore’s National Day.

In his post, the President extended his greetings to Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, and the people of Singapore. President Muizzu noted that peace and prosperity are important characteristics of Singapore’s progress and wished for their continuity.

He also highlighted that the relationship between the Maldives and Singapore has further strengthened, evolving into a mutually beneficial partnership.

While the President sent a National Day greeting message to Singapore, he recently made an official visit to the country at the invitation of Singapore’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam. During this visit, high-level discussions were held to strengthen relations between the two countries.

Three important agreements were signed during this trip in the areas of capacity building, education, and environment. Additionally, a Maldives-Singapore Business Forum was held in Singapore, attended by over 200 businesspeople from both countries. Information about investment opportunities in the Maldives was shared with the business community during this forum.

During his visit from June 29 to July 2, the President expressed confidence that the discussions with the Singaporean government and the agreements reached would further strengthen the relationship between the two countries and yield beneficial results for their citizens.

Singapore’s National Day commemorates the country’s independence from Malaysia. Diplomatic relations between Singapore and the Maldives were established on February 20, 1975.
