
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has returned to Malé after concluding his visit to Qatar to participate in the Arab Islamic Summit. During the emergency meeting held in Qatar on Monday, leaders of Islamic nations delivered statements. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu departed for Qatar on Sunday to attend the emergency meeting of Arab and Islamic nations. He delivered a statement on behalf of the Maldives at this meeting and condemned the attack by Jewish Israel on Qatar’s capital Doha on the 9th of this month.
He stated that Qatar was playing the role of a mediator in establishing peace in the Palestinian issue. He also said that the work being done by that country should be recognized and appreciated, and that this is not something that should be met with dissatisfaction and violence. The President also noted and condemned Israel’s killing of numerous Palestinian doctors, journalists, humanitarian aid workers, and civilians without hesitation, turning Gaza into rubble. He emphasized the need for strict measures to be taken against Israel in these matters.
During this trip, the President also met with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. In this meeting, he condemned the attack on Qatar by Israel and expressed condolences and sympathy for those martyred in the attack. The President also stated that the Maldives stands with Qatar and that the Maldives will provide full support for efforts to establish peace in the region. Additionally, the two leaders discussed areas where relations between the two countries could be further strengthened. The President also acknowledged and thanked Qatar for the assistance it currently provides to the Maldives in various sectors.
