President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the Fitness and Recreation Center being established by the government in HDh. Nolhivaran will include an indoor badminton hall. The President made this statement during his speech while meeting with the residents of Nolhivaran as part of his ongoing trip to Haa Dhaalu Atoll. Addressing the people of Nolhivaran, the President said that with the Fitness and Recreation Center, for which the foundation has been laid, there will be great convenience for playing indoor sports. Highlighting that the Fitness and Recreation Center being established on the island will include an indoor badminton hall, he mentioned that this is a facility specifically added for the island. The President noted that Nolhivaran is home to excellent badminton players, which is why this opportunity was provided to the island.
“The Fitness and Recreation Center will also provide great convenience for various indoor sports. As we construct this Fitness and Recreation Center, God willing, we will add something extra for sports in this island. Especially for those who play sports here, and as this island is particularly skilled in badminton, we will, God willing, proceed with the project including an indoor badminton hall,” the President said. The President stated that other sports-related projects are also planned for the island. In this regard, he noted that while the island currently has a football field with artificial turf, residents have expressed concern that it cannot be used at night as it lacks lighting. Therefore, the President said that the government will undertake the work of installing lights, building a surrounding wall, and developing the field to include a changing room.
“A football field has already been laid with artificial turf. However, there are no lights for playing at night. Also, there is no fence or protective surrounding wall. These are tasks we have decided to undertake. So, God willing, we will proceed with building a surrounding wall for the football field, installing lights, and we will also include a changing room in this development,” the President said, addressing the people of Nolhivaran.
