President inspects ‘Orange Hiyaa’ building being prepared to relocate Thalassemia Center

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu today inspected the ‘Orange Hiyaa’ building currently being prepared to relocate the National Thalassemia Center. During his visit to the building, the President examined the progress of the work and gathered information about the remaining tasks. In this visit, the President instructed that when relocating the thalassemia services to the new building, the work should be done in a way that ensures services can be provided without any difficulties for those seeking care.

Additionally, the President instructed to proceed with matters in close consultation with patients and service users to make things convenient for them. Less than 24 hours after some parties protested due to dissatisfaction with the services of the Thalassemia Center in Male’, the President visited the Thalassemia Center and the center being developed in Hulhumale’, closely examining the work and the condition of the children, and listening to complaints.

Some decisions made to strengthen the work of the Thalassemia Center:

1. Increasing the number of required nurses
2. Acquiring various equipment
3. Appointing a senior physician
4. Obtaining necessary resources and staff for the laboratory
5. Extending working hours and increasing human resources

The President said that the Finance Minister was also involved in that meeting, and arrangements have been made to ensure there will be no financial constraints for the work of the Thalassemia Center. The President also said that the procedures and deadlines for moving forward have been set today.
