President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the new Bank of Maldives (BML) ATM service in Kudahuvadhoo, Dhaalu Atoll. This marks the 39th island to receive ATM services under the ATM project. Establishing ATM services on all inhabited islands of the Maldives is a pledge of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. In line with the President’s promise, BML has begun the process of installing ATM services on 100 new islands this year. During his trip to South Maalhosmadulu Atoll, the President visited Kudahuvadhoo and inaugurated the ATM service there. To launch the service, he withdrew money from the ATM.
After initiating the service, the President presented a commemorative bank card to the Island Council. The card was received by the Council President, Abdul Hannan Abbas, on behalf of the Kudahuvadhoo Council. BML stated that the self-service ATM installed in Kudahuvadhoo will provide 24-hour cash withdrawal and deposit services for individuals and businesses, in addition to bill payment and transfer services. The bank also mentioned that credit card and loan payment services will be available through this ATM.
As part of the project to provide ATM services on all inhabited islands in the Maldives, carried out jointly by the government and BML, ATM services have now been launched on all inhabited islands in 6 atolls. These include Ha Atoll, Shaviyani Atoll, Dhaalu Atoll, Noonu Atoll, Meemu Atoll, and Kaafu Atoll. With this new ATM, BML’s banking network across the Maldives now includes over 250 ATMs, according to the bank.
BML stated that the government and the bank have jointly initiated this focused effort to establish ATM services on islands to provide various banking services to citizens conveniently and accessibly.
