
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that he has decided to designate Maafarufaru as part of AA. Feridhu. He said this during his speech while meeting with the people of Feridhu. The President said that Maafarufaru will be developed for local tourism and as a picnic island for public use. Speaking at the meeting with the people of AA. Feridhu, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that he has decided to carry out many development projects for the island, including establishing a police station, expanding the school, constructing a new health center building, developing a boat yard area, and developing a picnic area. These projects have now been assigned to various companies.
In his speech, the President highlighted that he has become very aware of the concerns of the people through various meetings held in Feridhu. He said that he visits the people to do things as they wish. The President also said that the government will always stand by the people. He also mentioned that the Atoll School in Feridhu has deteriorated due to neglect by previous governments. Along with this, the President said that the agreement signed to increase the capacity of the school is a project that includes classrooms, a multipurpose hall, a science lab, a computer lab, a staff room, a SEN class, a library, and other facilities.

“I assure you that this school will be built with space and facilities in place. We will start the work within 3 months at most, after completing the detailed design and other matters. The target is to start the actual work sooner and proceed at a very fast pace, and I assure you that it will be completed,” said the President. Noting that there are also issues of not having a principal in the school and a shortage of teachers, the President said that he assures that the educational system issues in Feridhu will be resolved very well, considering it a very serious matter.
The President also said that a high-quality laboratory will be established at the health center, and specialist doctors’ services will also be arranged to be stationed in the most needed areas of the island. He also said that along with finding nurses, the quality of health services will also be improved. The President said that developing the boat yard area and picnic island of Feridhu is one of his pledges, and that the picnic island is important for the economic progress of the island. Noting that this will be done in a way that does not lose the natural beauty of the island and also does not cause erosion, the President said that he will designate Maafarufaru as part of Feridhu and develop a picnic island there. The President also said that the paperwork for this will be completed very soon.
Highlighting that priority is also given to the road construction project, the President has noted that the work is also at the starting point as the people wish. He said that the budget has also been allocated for this, and the work will be assigned to RDEC within two to three weeks. “I would like to say that it will practically start this year in accordance with the opinions and consultations of the people,” said the President.
In addition, the President said that solving the problem in the harbor channel and establishing sports facilities will also proceed. This includes the work of a football field, a fitness and recreation center, an outdoor gym, and the development of a modern mosque with a capacity of 500 people. This is a project that will proceed along with the establishment of an Islamic library and some other services. He also said that an outreach center of the Quran Center will be established very soon, and arrangements have been made to provide police services in Feridhu until the police station is established.
