President discusses potential areas of collaboration with the University of Tartu!

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu visited the University of Tartu in Tartu, Estonia today and discussed potential areas of collaboration. During his official visit to Estonia, the President was welcomed to the University of Tartu by the Rector, Professor Toomas Asser. During this visit, Professor Asser showed the President important areas of the campus.

Additionally, the President signed the University’s guest book. The University of Tartu is one of the most historic and prestigious universities in Northern Europe. This research university of the Estonian government, which contributes 1% of the world’s top-ranked research, has about 14,300 students studying, including 13% international students from over 100 countries. The university, notable in the fields of genomics, computer science, and materials science, has modern facilities established at various campuses across Estonia.

During this meeting, the President inquired about potential areas of collaboration with the university. This included discussions about educational, research, and training opportunities for Maldivian students, teachers, and other professionals. Furthermore, the discussions specifically focused on exploring ways to utilize the university’s research capabilities to strengthen Maldives’ public services and digital infrastructure.
