President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has decided to increase salaries in three sectors starting from November 1st. The three sectors where the President has decided to increase salaries are the Civil Service, Judiciary, and Council employees, whose salaries have not been increased so far. As part of the state’s salary harmonization policy, the President has decided to increase the salaries of all Civil Service employees, Judiciary, and Council staff whose salaries have not been increased until now. He stated that this change will be implemented starting from November 1st.

In a post shared on social media, the President said that this was something he had decided and announced to do in this year’s Presidential Address. As previously noted, the President has stated that the salaries of all employees whose wages have not increased this year will be raised next year. The government will work to increase salaries in all sectors during this term, as stated by the President. In this regard, the salaries of the military and police have already been increased. Additionally, the allowance previously given to members of the Women’s Development Committee has now been established as an official salary.

The low salaries of Civil Service employees and staff from other sectors have been a major concern for the public. The first change to Civil Service employees’ salaries was made in 2009. Although various allowances have been given under different names since then, there hasn’t been a significant change in the salary structure. Under the work being done by the Pay Commission to harmonize salaries, the wages of nurses and teachers were increased in 2022. While the salaries of employees working in other sectors have not been changed, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has assured that this will be addressed and employees’ salaries will be increased.
