President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has changed the name of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation Limited (MMPRC). By presidential decree, he has changed MMPRC’s name to “Visit Maldives Corporation Limited”. MMPRC was established with the purpose of centralizing all marketing and promotional activities under one roof, as part of the government’s policy to streamline similar functions to facilitate economic development and social well-being of the Maldives, and to expedite and enhance service delivery. The presidential decree states that along with changing the company’s name to Visit Maldives Corporation Limited, the company intends to make necessary amendments to its Articles of Association and Memorandum of Association.
Visit Maldives Corporation Limited is a company established to strategically carry out the government’s efforts to develop and diversify the Maldivian tourism industry. Its primary functions include promoting the Maldives as a tourist destination globally, and conducting all marketing, promotion, and advertising activities necessary to maintain the Maldives’ position as a world-renowned, high-quality tourist destination. The company is designed to perform these tasks directly and strategically, in a sustainable and continuous manner.
While the President has now officially changed MMPRC’s name to Visit Maldives Corporation, it’s worth noting that the company has been using “Visit Maldives” in all international tourism-related activities until now. The company has also recently made changes to the logo used for promoting the Maldives.
