President: 90 Projects Underway in the Islamic Sector

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that 90 projects are currently being implemented within the Islamic sector, highlighting that MVR 15 million has been allocated this year specifically for the renovation of mosques. These projects encompass the construction and maintenance of 74 mosques, as well as several Islamic centers and Waqf buildings.

Furthermore, the President detailed that construction of new mosques will commence in 17 islands this year. Key initiatives also include the development of a Grand Mosque in Hulhumalé and the installation of air conditioning systems in various mosques across the country.

In a move to further promote religious education and support scholars, the government has decided to double the allowance provided to Hafizes. Additionally, a dedicated Waqf building will be established to enhance Quranic sciences, and a PhD scholarship opportunity will be awarded to the top achiever of the National Quran Competition.
