
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that the work on the 8 classrooms that had been halted in Sh. Goidhoo will be completed and ready for use in the coming academic year. During his trip to the islands of Sh. Atoll, the President visited Goidhoo and met with the residents, sharing plans for the island’s development. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu said that in addition to the newly started projects in Goidhoo, the harbor development work and the modernization of roads, for which agreements have been signed, are important projects for the island’s residents. The President said that such projects in the islands are assigned to companies after ensuring that the necessary resources are in place. He highlighted that he visits the people to consult with them about how these projects are progressing and to ensure that the projects are carried out according to the people’s wishes.

Shedding light on the stalled projects in Goidhoo, the President said that efforts to complete the work on the 8 additional classrooms for the island’s school will be expedited. He mentioned that the work to complete these classrooms has now been assigned to Fenaka Corporation, and the materials needed for the work will be transported to the island within a week, after which work will commence. “This is a project that has been prolonged. The school is facing great difficulties due to this work not being completed. Therefore, the materials needed for roofing will be brought, and that work will begin. And the work will be completed for the academic year,” said President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Highlighting healthcare services, the President said that the development of a two-story building is in the stage of being assigned to a contractor. He stated that a 20-bed facility including wards, private rooms, and other amenities will be developed. The President said that the work will be assigned to a contractor this month, and physical work will begin within this year. Noting that important work in the sports sector is planned for the coming year, the President said that the development of a football ground, volleyball court, and handball court will be included in next year’s budget. Furthermore, as Goidhoo is an agricultural island, the President said that the needs of farmers will be addressed, and matters such as providing utility services will be facilitated through the ministry responsible for agriculture.
