Victory SC head coach, Georgelee Gerrie, has expressed significant concern regarding the lack of player commitment to regular training sessions. Speaking after the team’s defeat against Maziya, the coach highlighted that achieving consistent results is becoming increasingly difficult as players’ involvement in outside commitments prevents the team from training effectively as a cohesive unit.
The coach attributed this challenge to the current state of Maldivian football, noting that many players are forced to seek alternative employment or participate in various other tournaments to secure a stable income. This lack of professional focus has directly impacted the team’s performance, causing Victory to slide from fifth to sixth place in the league standings following their latest loss.
According to the coach, the only sustainable solution to this issue is for clubs to achieve greater financial stability, which would allow them to provide players with adequate wages and ensure their full dedication to the sport.
