The Maldives Police Service has highlighted that while the modernization of the Male’ market area and its opening to two-way traffic has significantly eased congestion, there is an urgent need for additional parking spaces in the vicinity. Despite the road being designed with designated zones for goods vehicles, the police noted that the full benefits of the expansion are currently hindered by individuals leaving goods on the pavement and unauthorized multi-row parking. Furthermore, the police emphasized that as the jetty area serves as a primary hub for transporting goods to the atolls, it is crucial to establish more parking options for the public who frequent the area.
